Yes ... I think it should be a national holiday

Okay, okay ... so I am a big fan of my birthday ... maybe it's because I had such cool parties that Mom did growing up ... or perhaps it is because I had 3 siblings and it was the "one day" that was MINE MINE MINE.

So being home I've been able to start looking through some photo albums and the like.  When Mom and Dad built their new house - it was the perfect excuse to get all their kid's "souvenirs" out of their storage and into our own.  All said - my favorite road right now is Memory Lane.

In doing so - I've taken some photos of photos to share ... most of them revolve around my birthday celebrations. Shocker.

So without further ado as photos are so much more interesting (most of the time) than this written "blah-blah-blah"

I believe this was my 1st birthday and given the size of my head, the photo included Alison for support - morale or the otherwise....

Fuzzy wazzy waz a photo ... but I loved my party hats and the camera... go figure.

I was already practicing for "later in life..."    That said - truth story - my Gramps took this picture and gave it to the school my senior year to use as the "baby photo" ... so typical of Gramps to come out of left field like that... "good times ... good times ...."   For those that can identify where the photo was taken then you have been there and that must mean you are special.

Ah - the next one ... sing along "mon-chee-chee-mon-chee-chee... oh so soft and cuddily"   And I'm sure I sounded as good back then as I do now - which is to say AWFUL.

Okay - this was probably my most favorite birthday party EVER (well - or at least before the drinking age).  Mom did this Safari theme ... there was crepe stringers to make the trees (I thought it was cool if you licked them or got your fingers wet they turned the color of the crepe stringer ... odd child yes).  Mom had all these games planned that were Safari themed.  It makes me just really sappy thinking about it - must be time for a another photo.

Okay - this next one isn't a birthday shot - but it is a little shout out to how creative Mom was / is ... I mean what kid would not want to be ET with a paper mache head, laytex dishwashing gloves and a lovely satin heart sown onto a "nude" leotard.  No wonder I stick with very basic clothes / fashion (ok - that might be a stretch... but be nice - it's going to be a national holiday some day!!)   Anyhow ... Lady Gaga - you don't have anything on this design - although your egg is sort of like my paper mache head.  WORD.

The next one - a little tease shout out to Mom and Dad ... as in to say "Really??  paging Captain Obvious!!"   This was in 6th grade .... that said, I wonder if I could ever find that shade of teal to match both my sweater and flannel once more.  Oh how I long for the good ole days.....

And 6 years later ... as I was doing my "glamor shots" for my Senior potrait .... love the gel'd "swoosh" of the bangs thing going on.  Eh?!?!   Clearly I was stilll scarred about the ET paper mache head (or perhaps that glow is still from the satin love heart - or perhaps it was the flash from my BlackBerry camera) ... anyhow - definitely looking at the bangs again and I think I could give the Nike Swoosh a run for its money ... YO - Philip Knight - ring-a-ding-ding me!!

So Happy Birthday to me BEATCHES (well officially tomorrow - 10 June)!  And here is a little song "adaption" I came up with one long day driving the combine for harvest one long summer (literally hours of "self time" and bad talk radio...) ... but - if you take the song from Disney - the M-I-C.... K-E-Y ... M-O-U-S-E ... and replace it with E-M-I - L-Y-F .. R-E-N-C-H ... Emily French (clap-clap) ... Emily French (clap-clap).  I know, I know... "how lovely...."

Okay ... it's time to be my overachiever self and have a glass of wine and watch the world go by (okay - possibly a deer every once in a great while... that's the pace around here).

  1. Okay, that third frickin' picture almost made me projectile pee. OMG! That might be one of the funniest pictures EVER! I think you still have that swim top. Didn't you wear that over to the Mica pool once? ;)
