And so it begins....

I have decided to take the summer "off" - off not meaning not working... but "off" meaning "off grid" as I am now in the wilds and wilderness of northern Idaho and plan to spend the next few months in Sandpoint, Idaho and the surrounding areas ... this will include exploration of vast forests, the lake and perhaps most importantly, the restaurants, bars and just the "scene" of full immerson.

One of my friends from Buenos Aires (yes - I live there some of the year as well when I am not in Sandpoint or on an airplane...) gave me a good bit of advice as we were having lunch at Rodi on the day of my departure over steaks and diet 7UP (odd, but actually an illuminating combination if one chooses to remain sober over the lunch hours):  "just take a break from your life."  And so I have fully committed to doing so ...

The upside to all of this - and there are numerous... is this will be the first time I have spent my birthday at home with my family in - I cannot even remember.  As well as spend the 4th of July in America, on the lake and just breathe.  Perhaps thinking now - I should have entitled the blog "Just breathe" rather than the Big Unwind... but that makes me think of the Singing episode of Grey's Anatomy and I don't need that running through my head whenever I sit down to type to you "Dear Reader" (said in my best Dear Abby voice - or how I would imagine she would have spoke those 2 immortal words).

So without further waste of words and ramblings ... the BIG UNWIND begins ... first adventure - Joel's Taco and a drive to Priest Lake to get a few things framed.
