DC girls go to Schweitzer ...

It's not exactly like Mr Smith goes to Washington ... but you get the sense of it.  Had the fortune of hosting four fabulous women from DC .. Banks & Lynn and Raisa & Jen.  Wonderful people, perfect guests and think everyone greatly enjoyed "turning back into" Advanced Beginner Skiers.  The following photos are courtesy of Banks... a good time had by all as it's been fantastic introducing the magic of Sandpoint, Schweitzer... they will all be back for Bunga Bunga 2012 in August!  Look out Sandpoint - look. out.

The entrance to Schweitzer... fresh snow!

Greeted Sunday Schweitzer arrival with a champagne toast!

Monday - BLUE BIRD powder day (see previous post) - it was amaze.

The was post the first day of skiing - or perhaps after our first game of Loaded Questions.  New "best" game.

Dusk falling on Schweitzer... shot from my back deck at the cabin

Last night in Sandpoint... Eichardt's!  Pez collection, taps on the ceiling, beer, cider, wine - Oh. My.

Schweitzer... it's not going to be a secret for long!

Vieques ... take 2

Pina coladas after being on the beach all day... YUMMI !

The road to Green beach ... isolation - it doesn't get much better than this...

Playing in the ocean @ Green beach... Meg and I giving each other pointers!

This was the 2nd night @ Al's for Sunset... no funeral / wake to compete with this go-around.  More on this below.

Sunset @ Al's ... ahhhhhhh....

After the first full day on the beach ... Al's is the hot spot & right down the street from Casa de Amistad.  Perfect!

This was the first evening in VQS.  Literally drove to Casa de Amistad.. where there was a note on the gate saying "@ Al's"... walked down and there was a funeral / wake for Steve (no idea who this Steve person was but he had a lot of island friends)... had a few cold ones and then it was back to check in, throw our bags in our room and off to supper.  Good times, good times.

The weather continues to be sublime... morning rain showers while still in bed, followed by winds, blue skies and sun... lots & lots of SUN.

Let the vacation begin... in VQS for a few days of sun, beach and sun with Meg and one of her besties from NYC!  Go team Crate-n-Barrel!  Green beach day 1.  Green beach day 2 begins post java and jamon y queso pan.

Sofia. Coppola.  Best champers in a can on the beach... ever!

Meggggggggg.  Dominish.

Yayr!

Holla!

Warming up and cheesing after a dip in the pool

Meg's self potraits with the camera are pretty darn priceless

Blue bird powder day ....

This posting comes from the lovely GEG airport (leaving the snow for a few days to hit the beaches of Vieques!!)  ... I have dropped off the latest house guests:  Banks, Lynn and Raisa, Jen.. and they are all on their way back to DC.  Old friends, new friends ... just a wonderful time.  One of the best quotes of the time spent "is there an alcohol lounge on the slopes?"  This is what happens when the Russian mafia comes to north Idaho!

Here are multiples of the "blue bird powder day" this past Monday ... spent the afternoon skiing / tearing up the pow-pow with Papa French.  Awesomeness.

Papa French down Australia!

Backside of Schweitzer

Floating on the clouds .. Winter heaven!

It's unclear what he is pointing at - but the cloud wrap turned out to be way cool

A look down Great Escape / Divide

Dad and I .. soaking up the sun, burning through the powder

Take 2

The infamous Chair 6 ... aka Snow Ghost

Man-made moguls ... sweet, sweet skiers (go away snow boarders!!)

All day skiing on Chair 6 = leg cramps and the best tasting beer - EVER!

Schweitzer ....

And it's one of the most epic ski seasons at Schweitzer .... another fun week with loved ones!

A few shots of the past weekend ... with more to follow after I find my adapter for my camera.  Shocker I know.

This is Mark and I ... after a few beers at Eichardt's and walking back to Seasons and Jill & the bebes.

A shot from Stella's Run on the backside of Schweitzer

Sandpoint sunrise ... now where did January go?

Another stellar weekend in Sandpoint ... wine tasting and general debauchery at Coldwater Creek wine bar on Friday.. movies and couch time on Saturday, skiing on Sunday.. cabin living, more wine tasting, steaks and Woods Monday and Tuesday... the flight from Sandpoint to Spokane and back was just stunning to see the world from 8-9,000 feet in the air and be a co-pilot on the way home... And now back to the grind... but not before another gorgeous sunrise here on the lake!  Ski time with Dad tomorrow and one day closer to the weekend!  Superbowl Sunday said what?!  And now I'm wondering why does my calendar say 1 February?  Already....
